Featured E-Dream
Currently Roswell Nursing & Rehab in Roswell, GA, cannot afford to take their residents anywhere and haven't been able to for over 3 years.  They have a lot of residents that have been here for 10+ years, and most of them haven't been out for any trips. The only places they can physically go to, are the ones we can walk/roll to and crossing Alpharetta Hwy is dangerous. If they had a van, they would be able to enjoy all sorts of fun shopping, restaurants, museums, etc. The quality of life for their residents would greatly improve. The residents have been raising money in various ways including a country store they operate within the ECC.  They have raised over $20,000 towards the van.  Second Wind Dreams would like to help make this dream a reality.  If you would like to help, please click here to view the details and make a donation!
Committees Forming!

We want our members to have input into the programs we provide.  If you are interested in serving on a SWD Committee, please contact our membership director, Laurie, at laurie@secondwind.org.  There are several ways you can be involved.  Most "meetings" will take place via email, chat room and through skype.  Get involved and help us mold the membership benefits, plan the annual conference, develop promotions and much, much more!

We look forward to hearing from you!

VDT on "The Doctors"

Alzheimer's Disease
Alzheimer's disease, the seventh-leading cause of death in the United States, is an irreversible,
progressive brain disease that slowly destroys memory and thinking skills. Symptoms often begin to appear after age 60 and can make performing even the simplest of tasks difficult. It is the most common cause of dementia among the elderly, with one in 10 men, and one in six women being at risk for Alzheimer's.

Pediatrician Dr. Jim Sears' grandfather suffered from the disease, so in an effort to better understand it, Dr. Sears undergoes an unconventional experiment using the
Second Wind Dreams Virtual Dementia Tour.

See how even the simplest tasks become extremely difficult for someone
with Alzheimer's.

The Doctors try to fight back tears as they react to the powerful images from
Dr. Sears' experiment.

Dreams Do Come True!
Laughter dream
Heading to the show!

Las Vegas, Nevada

Erma dreamed of a night of laughter!  To feel that thrill of laughing from deep down in your belly!  She received just that and more!  Along with her niece, she was treated to an evening of luxury as a limo transported her to the Terry Fator show.

Dreamweaver, Tara Galuska, said "Erma had a wonderful time, she smiled and thanked us every couple of minutes and best of all her distinct laugh could be heard throughout the show room!"

Be sure and submit your dreams!  We'd love to share what you are doing and the impact it is having on your community!
Sincerely,

Laurie Labishak
