Currently Roswell Nursing & Rehab in Roswell, GA, cannot afford to take their residents anywhere and haven't been able to for over 3 years.  They have a lot of residents that have been here for 10+ years, and most of them haven't been out for any trips. The only places they can physically go to, are the ones we can walk/roll to and crossing Alpharetta Hwy is dangerous. If they had a van, they would be able to enjoy all sorts of fun shopping, restaurants, museums, etc. The quality of life for their residents would greatly improve. The residents have been raising money in various ways including a country store they operate within the ECC.  They have raised over $20,000 towards the van.  Second Wind Dreams would like to help make this dream a reality.  If you would like to help, please click here to view the details and make a donation!

Dear Members, Supporters & Friends,

Here it is mid-October already!  So many exciting things are happening with Second Wind Dreams®!  We can't wait to share all the great news with you all!

We are very pleased to welcome Holly Cohn to our home office.  Holly is our new Dream Advocacy Specialist.  Many of you may have already had contact with Holly when you called our home office recently.  Holly is still learning the ropes, but will soon be handling all dream requests received through our e-dreams network as well as a variety of other tasks!  Join us in welcoming Holly to the SWD family!

P.K. Beville and I were honored to share a booth with the Alzheimer's Foundation of America at this year's AARP@50 convention in Orlando, Florida.  Over the course of three days, we provided an abbreviated version of the VDT to attendees.  The response was amazing!  In just two and half minutes, participants were able to comprehend what an individual with Alzheimer's or Dementia deals with 24 hours a day 7 days a week.  In three days, nearly 300 people participated in the abbreviated tour.  You can read more about it and see pictures by visiting our Facebook page here.

Our annual golf classic is set to take place on Monday, October 18th and looks to be our most successful yet!  Click here to see this year's sponsors!

Don't forget about our limited "Premium Lifetime Membership" now being offered.  For details, click here or email me!

Warmly,

Dreams Do Come True!
Golf Cart of Dreams
Activity Director, Rutheanne and Resident Glenda are the first to take it for a spin!
When Carlyle Health Care contacted us about needing a golf cart to help carry their elders from place to place on their campus, it sounded like a great idea.  After getting a quote from a local company and talking with maintenance about making the necessary adjustment to the cart to make it safe, they were on their way.  The dream was posted on our E-Dreams network and the folks at Carlyle got to work spreading the word about what they needed.  Then it happened, they found a cart that was already handicapped accessible and brand new.  It was being sold for a great price and they didn't want to miss out so they began raising the needed funds.  Within two weeks they had what they needed and they purchased the "Golf Cart of Dreams!"  Now they can take their elders all around their beautiful campus in Carlyle, Indiana.  The Carlyle dream team is doing an excellent job making dreams come true!

Dream Outcome Reports
Dream outcome reports are the only way we can keep track of the great work you are all doing out there.  Please be sure and either complete the form in your manual and send it via email (preferably) or by snail mail to our home office address.  If you are including pictures, please attach the picture file to the email so we can upload the picture to our website and social networking sites.  Faxed pictures cannot be used.

You can also post your dream outcomes at our website.  Simply create a dream and on the drop down menu for status, select "New Fulfilled Outside".  Be sure and include in the budget detail items that were donated for the dream and who donated them.  Give as much detail as possible in the description of the dream.  You can upload a picture to go with the dream as well.  Once it is submitted, we will review it and if we have any questions, we will contact you via email.  If we have no questions, the dream will be approved and posted to your profile.  Once approved, it can be shared on Facebook and Twitter.  Visitors can also make comments and upload pictures and video relevant to the dream.  We hope you will take advantage of this new feature on the website.

We want to hear about your dreams!  Please post on our Facebook page and email us all the details so we can help spread the news!  We continue to average nearly two dreams a day!  Please make sure yours are counted!

If you need assistance with completing dream outcome forms, please contact our membership director.
