Dear Members, Supporters & Friends,
As the lazy days of summer come to an end, we reflect on what has been a "dreamy" few months. You have all been working hard to find and fulfill dreams for the elders you serve! We commend you on a job well done! We will highlight a couple of those dreams in this edition of 'News & Inspirations' and we encourage you to visit our website and blog frequently to see more dreams as they are fulfilled. We are excited to finally offer a way for you to submit your dream outcome forms online at the website. Simply log in, select "create a dream" and in the "status" drop down menu, select "fulfilled". Continue to complete the information requested. Be sure when adding your budget items that you note whether is was an in-kind or cash donation and from whom. We also encourage you to upload a picture if you have one. Once we receive it, we will contact you with any questions and mark it approved. When anyone visits our site and accesses your ECC profile, your dreams, both fulfilled and those you have submitted for donations, will be viewable. We would like to thank those of you who have completed our website survey. We appreciate your feedback and will work on improving it for you. If you haven't taken the survey, please take a moment to do so now. Click here. As we move into Autumn and the kids return to school, remember this is a great time to introduce Second Wind Dreams to students. Many schools now require volunteer hours for graduation. This is such a meaningful way for students to fulfill their obligation and build a lasting positive perception of aging! Warmly, Laurie Labishak Director of Membership & Chapter Development |

Princeton Healthcare Motorcycle Ride
Princeton Healthcare had a young lady who is 85 years old who had a dream of riding a motorcycle again. She & her late husband courted on a motorcycle in the 1940's. She hadn't ridden a bike since. So we contacted a local motorcycle dealership, (Hillbilly Cycles) who agreed to ride Mrs. Anna Dishner on a side car motorcycle. The family came, our local news & the newspaper!!! It was great. We had 11 bikes that went on the ride. Her grandson came all the way from Kentucky just to go on the ride with her. Staff, family & friends brought their bikes for the event. We took a 30 min. ride around our area. WVVA news has ran the story for 2 days!!!! Submitted by: Katrina Tickles, Princeton Healthcare, Princeton, WV

Incentives
Second Wind Dreams would like to offer incentives to our members for the work you are doing. With every dream outcome from you complete and submit, either online or by traditional means, you will be entered into a drawing monthly, beginning in September. We will select one each month for a Second Wind Dreams' incentive. Prizes could include cash for your dreams program, educational items for your ECC library, SWD logo items and many more. It's very important that you submit your dream outcome forms. This is the only way we know what is going on out there. Hopefully, these incentives, and the chance to win a free trip to our annual convention next year, will help motivate you all to submit your forms.
If you have suggestions for incentives, please email Laurie.

Second Wind Dreams Stories Hidden in Blogs
I recently stumbled upon a blog by a young woman who works in a SWD member elder care community. I have attempted to contact her for permission to re-print a story she posted about a couple of dreams come true, with no success. So, instead, I'd like to invite each of you to visit her blog (which is public), " Slow down and Live". Her story about "Cinderella" will warm your heart as it did mine. I hope you will take a moment to read her story.
