ABC News Nightline featured a wonderful story about a family dealing with the realities of a loved one with Alzheimer's Disease.  As part of the story, Cynthia McFadden participated in the Virtual Dementia Tour.  You can watch the story here.

A Special Outing!

Marge Lerro, 94, of Wesley Enhanced Living of Upper Moreland in Philadelphia, PA,  has always enjoyed having high heels and open toes shoes on, althought the staff have painted her toes before but she has always wanted them to be professionally done with designs and the whole works. A big thank you to Avenue Nails of Philadelphia for making this possible.

Another Successful SWD/HERO Kick Off!

A Salute for Mr. Maurice Boyer 99
Carlyle Cardinals
Beginning with our National Anthem as the color guard from VFW Post 9112 of Vineland, NJ presented our colors and the room full of onlookers rose to honor one of Nation's Veterans, Mr. Maurice Boyer, 99, Army Air Corps, WWII.  The color guard presented our nation's flag to the veteran after the traditional flag folding ceremony in his honor.  After a salute, we were off to a good start!

Our first dreamer was Mr. Edward Hunter, 84, of the New Jersey Memorial Veteran's Home, Vineland, NJ.  Mr. Hunter always dreamed of becoming a police officer.  The Mayor of Atlantic City, Mr. Lorenzo Langford, was on hand to induct Mr. Hunter as an honorary Atlantic City Police Officer.  After presenting him with a framed certificate, he handed over his driver and brand new police car to Mr. Hunter for a ride around AC with lights flashing and sirens blaring.  They even fit Mr. Hunter with a bullet proof vest!  After the ride, Mr. Hunter stated "it was the best day of his life!"

Next, an elder from Villa Rafaella Assisted Living was presented with a gift certificate for a day at the Philadelphia Zoo to ride the Zoo Balloon with her grand children.  Something she has longed to do for many years, Mrs. Noreen Duffy Burton, 80+, was thrilled to learn she would finally get to take to the air!

Our third dreamer, James Maher, 80, of Seacrest Village in Little Egg Harbor, NJ, was surrounded by a local baseball team and presented some baseball memorabilia including a world series baseball!  Mr. Maher, a big baseball fan - especially of the NY Yankees and the Phillies of Philadelphia, hasn't been to a game in many years and also has never been to a Phillies game.  He received tickets to an upcoming game where he may even get the privilege of throwing out the first pitch!  He commented that "he was overwhelmed and just couldn't believe it!
