Harrah's Foundation and Second Wind Dreams Announce Unique Partnership
|
We are excited to announce that the Harrah's Foundation and Second Wind Dreams have formed a joint initiative to establish the Second Wind Dreams program in communities throughout the United States having Harrah's properties. Because the need is great and because they are historically underserved, the Harrah's Foundation places a particular emphasis on supporting community-based programs that enhance the lives of senior citizens. Communities targeted to initiate the Second Wind Program in 2009 include Hammond, Indiana (metro Chicago), Las Vegas and New Orleans.
This unique partnership is designed to leverage the power of Harrah's H.E.R.O. Program (Harrah's Entertainment Reaching Out), an employee-based volunteer program located at all Harrah's properties. By combining the Second Wind Dreams program with the skills, expertise and dedication of the H.E.R.O. volunteers, the quality of life for seniors living in nursing homes and assisted living facilities in Harrah's communities will be greatly enhanced. We will keep you posted on the progress of this exciting program.

Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Indiana Hosts Second Wind Dreams Celebration Kickoff |
|
Greetings to all Second Wind Dreams Members!
It is my honor to announce to you the successful kickoff of the new Second Wind Dreams / Harrah's Foundation joint initiative which took place February 24th in Hammond, Indiana and was hosted by the Horseshoe Casino. In all, four dreams were granted for local Indiana residents and three Indiana nursing homes received some much needed equipment. Visit Second Wind Dream's website to read the details and view a video of this exciting event! (www.secondwind.org)
Working with volunteers from the Horseshoe Casino has been extraordinary. They are real go-getters and the volunteers have embraced the Second Wind Dreams mission wholeheartedly. Called H.E.R.O.s - and they are - we are assisting these volunteers in forming "Dream Teams" that will work ongoing to change the perception of aging in each of the three markets. As members, you already know the power of the Second Wind Program to do just that!
As Director of Membership and Chapter Development, I am available to these new markets as they grow and also to our current members for any assistance you may need in your ongoing dream programs. Feel free to contact me at any time. I look forward to an exciting year and wonderful dreams coming true for our elders. It's going to be an awesome year for Second Wind Dreams and all of our members. We are growing in a way that we never imagined possible. Please keep in touch and let us know what is going on in each of your areas.
Sincerely, Laurie Labishak Director of Membership & Chapter Development 740-972-2426 (cell) laurie.secondwind.org
