PERENNIALS - Planning Color Throughout the Seasons

Designing with perennials is exciting and rewarding. Participants will learn the fundamentals of this dynamic process, step-by-step...from bed layout to calculating spacing and number of plants, to lacing the first plants, all the way through the finished garden. This talk will show the how-to of design. Effective combinations of perennials with woody plants and annuals will be discussed in a variety of garden situations. Optional lunch from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. for $10 per person. At the end of the class, you will take home a $10.00 gift certificate good toward your purchase of live plants from Baker's as well as informative handouts. See registration details below. HOW TO GROW, USE AND HARVEST HERBS
Saturday, April 12th at 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Cost $20.00
Instructor: DR. LAURA DEETER
Learn how to recognize, grow and use 16 favorite herbs. Which herbs should you grow for cooking? Which plants over-winter? Which would your start fresh each year? How can you preserve your herbal harvest? At the end of the class, you will take home 3 herbs to get you started, as well as care tips, recipes, and ideas for using your herbs. It is hands-on fun as you touch, smell, and nibble your way to herbal knowledge. Herbal tastings will be served. See registration details below.
