CHAMBER CASH MOB TODAY!
When: Tuesday, May 1st | 5:30 PM - 7 PM Where: Changing Seasons Gift Gallery
(Englewood Station Arts District)
First 100 mobbers receive a free gift from Changing Seasons Gift Gallery
What is a Cash Mob?
A cash mob brings community members together much like a flash mob; however the cash mob sweeps into a preselected local business. Each mobber is asked to bring $10-$20 dollars in cash to spend at the business. The purpose is not only to help boost sales for a day, but to showcase these local businesses. HELP PROMOTE!
Cash mobs are successful through the efforts of the community. These events are promoted primarily though social media. So post a link on your social sites, email to friends & family and create a buzz at your business.

Weekly Poll
|
LAST WEEKS RESULTS: What regulation is most challenging to your business? The top two answers from respondents is Tax & Healthcare. The United States Chamber of Commerce issued a small business report in January 2012. Excerpts from Small Business Outlook Survey - January 2012, U.S. Chamber of CommerceTheir findings included:
Uncertainty Continues to be the Biggest Challenge for Small Businesses
- The small business outlook for the national economy still shows that the vast majority think our country is off on the wrong track (85%).
- Of small businesses polled, 52% perceive their top issue and biggest challenge is the general economic climate. Half of all small businesses surveyed are not sure if America's best days are ahead or behind, and the threat of over--regulation continues to cause concern.
- What is the impact of regulation and the new health care law? Fewer jobs. 78% of small businesses surveyed report the taxation, regulation and legislation from Washington make it harder for their business to hire more employees. And, 74% say the recent health care law makes it harder for their business to hire more employees.
- What do small business leaders want Washington to do? Eight out of ten say they would rather have Washington stay out of the way than provide a helping hand. Eight--six percent say they would rather have more certainty from Washington than more assistance (6%) to deal with the economy.

April Luncheon
It was a full house at this month's membership luncheon. The large crowd showed up early to network and grab a good seat. Mike Sanders, Jackson County Executive spoke about a two county projects. An important topic involved the restoration of the Courthouse and the amenities it will bring to the community. The renovation of the courthouse, located on the historic Independence Square, will not use bonds to pay for the restorations. Sanders expressed the urgency of regional transit system issue. Federal government funding for these systems are depleting and our region is one of the last that do not have a system in the works.
Thank you to Edward Jones Investment for sponsoring the April Membership Luncheon.
