Ribbon Cutting
Ribbon Cutting | Allen's Banquet Hall

The Independence business community welcomed Allen's Banquet Hall last Wednesday.  This new business is a great addition to the Maywood community.  Owners, Wayne and Roxann Allen, updated the once Bonnie Mae's Family Restaurant into a beautiful banquet hall.  The hall can accommodate up to 220 guest and has a fully equipped kitchen on site.  Another perk is WiFi throughout and a play room for children during events.  Contact Wayne or Roxann for more rates and availability.

Allen's Banquet Hall is located at 11330 Truman Rd., Independence, MO 64050.

Chamber Cash Mob

CHAMBER CASH MOB!

When: Tuesday, May 1st | 5:30 PM - 7 PM
Where: Changing Seasons Gift Gallery

(Englewood Station Arts District)

First 100 mobbers receive a free gift from Changing Seasons Gift Gallery

What is a Cash Mob?

A cash mob brings community members together much like a flash mob; however the cash mob sweeps into a preselected local business. Each mobber is asked to bring $10-$20 dollars in cash to spend at the business. The purpose is not only to help boost sales for a day, but to showcase these local businesses.

HELP PROMOTE!

Cash mobs are successful through the efforts of the community.  These events are promoted primarily though social media.  So post a link on your social sites, email to friends & family and create a buzz at your business.

Business After Hours

Thank you to the Fountains at Greenbriar for hosting the March Business After Hours.  Despite the rain, the event was well attended. Laughter, networking and tasty treats were all enjoyed.  The next Business After Hours will be April 26 at Silverstein Eye Centers.

Youth L.E.A.D.

April's session was the last day for the Youth L.E.A.D. students.  After a morning of leadership training by Kate Schwaller the students recapped their year of leadership and experiences.  They  were also challenged to think about the future and what it holds. The students toured the Ennovation Center and learned about being an entrepreneur  from The Berry Nutty Farm creators.  Graduation for the Youth L.E.A.D. class is April 17.  Make sure to congratulate these students.

Adult L.E.A.D.

The Adult L.E.A.D. class topic in March was economic development in Independence. The class first stopped by Dr. Hinson's office to discuss the effects that economic development has on the school district.  The class traveled to the Ennovation Center where they were treated to a seminar about the economic outlook of 2012.  The class then met with Cindy McClain who discussed the history of the McClain businesses on the Square.  On their final stop Mayor Don Reimal answered questions from the class regarding the economic atmosphere of Independence.
