Member: The Women's Clinic of Kansas City
The Women's Clinic of Kansas City (TWC) will host a Ribbon Cutting and Open House to welcome their latest addition - a new ultrasound machine. Plan to attend the celebration on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at their Grandview, MO location at 11904 Blue Ridge Boulevard, Grandview, MO.
On January 10, 2012 the Esaote My Lab 20 Plus state-of-the-art ultrasound machine was delivered to The Women's Clinic's Grandview location. The national Knights of Columbus Ultrasound Initiative: Changing Hearts and Saving Lives provided the framework for three local Knights of Columbus Councils and the Knights of Columbus Missouri State Council to partner with the Knights of Columbus Supreme Council to purchase the machine.
"What a blessing the Knights of Columbus are to The Women's Clinic," said TWC Executive Director Deborah Neel. "The local councils raised funds that were matched by the state council and then the Supreme Council provided matching funds to complete the fundraising that lead to the purchase of the machine!"
And what a machine it is! "There's a 17" high-resolution, LCD color monitor so women can see the clearest image of the child they are about to bring into the world," said Neel. "In our experience, we know that about 90% of the women who get to see their child in an ultrasound image, hear their baby's heartbeat, see their child's hands and face - those women choose life. And that's our mission - to care for the well-being of women and their babies!"
The three local councils include Knights of Columbus Council #3430 Jackson County (St. Ann Catholic Church, Independence, MO), Knights of Columbus Council #6794 Fr. James L. Wallace (St. Mark Catholic Church, Independence, MO) and Knights of Columbus Council #7055 Santa Fe (St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church (Independence, MO) and Church of the Santa Fe (Buckner, MO). Knights of Columbus Council #14972 Our Lady of Perpetual Help (Our Lady of the Coronation Church, Grandview, MO) and Knights of Columbus Council 10746 Fr. Donnelly (St. Mary Catholic Church, Independence, MO) also supported the fundraising efforts.
