The Shared Care Free Clinic, previously called the Jackson County Free Health Clinic, serves low-income, uninsured adults with chronic medical illnesses. Medicaid is only available to adults who are disabled or blind so these patients have few options for medical services. The clinic has been in operation for the last 11 years to provide primary care, medications, vaccines, and chronic disease management education to 500 uninsured patients.

The most common diseases seen are diabetes, high blood pressure, thyroid and cholesterol issues. The goal of care is to keep patients healthy enough to raise families and to continue working. Patients are seen by appointment only and details of eligibility can be found at the website www.sharedcarefree.org.
