2011-2012 Adult L.E.A.D.
The Adult L.E.A.D. class took a trip down memory lane learning about Independence's unique history. After their leadership training exercises, the L.E.A.D. class visited some of Independence's historical sites. After a long day of history, the class hit the bowling alley for some social time.

| 63rd Annual Halloween Parade | 
Independence Chamber of Commerce & Centerpoint Medical Center Present:63rd Annual Halloween Parade
When: Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, 4 p.m. Please note the time change from 3 pm in past years to 4 pm!!
Where: Historic Independence Square, Independence, Mo.
Parade Route: Begins at Pleasant and Walnut streets and continues east on Walnut, north on Main, west on Lexington, north on Spring and ends at McCoy Park. First and second place trophies will be awarded in four categories. The parade will be held rain or shine.
Details: Ghouls and goblins will roam the streets, as school groups, businesses, car clubs and individuals show off their Halloween spirit with decorated floats. Kids of all ages are invited to trick or treat around the Square before the parade, from 2:00 - 3:30 p.m. Participating merchants will display balloons outside their storefronts. Shotgun Jackson, afternoon disc jockey for 106.5 the Wolf will once again emcee the parade.
Admission: FREE!!
Great Pumpkin Contest: Sponsored by CommunityAmerica Credit Union. A giant pumpkin will be displayed at the CommunityAmerica Credit Union inside Hy-Vee located at 23rd & Lee's Summit Rd! "Guess the weight of the pumpkin and win it, along with a $100 savings bond from CommunityAmerica.
