Chamber Makeover

Chamber Makeover
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
In the past year the Chamber has launched a new website, social sites and two mobile apps. With these new additions to the technology front, there was one item needing a facelift.....the logo. A logo is "an identifying statement," as defined by Merriam-Webster. The Chamber wanted a new look that identified the mission of the organization. The Chamber consulted with Kelly Lightfoot, Owner & Creative Director of Ampersand. Thus Chamber's direction was transformed into the above illustration.
"The greatest goal of the Independence Chamber is to support local business and that's exactly what this new brand identity exemplifies," Kelly states. "With the modern illustration of our local cityscape, we also see a blending of the diverse grouping of businesses which all come together under the banner of the Chamber."
The new look reflects today's Chamber and supports the image as a longstanding organization within the community, providing innovative ideas and services for members and community.

Santa-Cali-Gon Days Festival
| |
Sunday, September 4
Wow! Friday and Saturday were rough, but Sunday was clear blue skies, perfect temperatures and the crowds were the largest in festival history for a Sunday! Overall, Sunday was a great day to visit the crafters and enjoy the entertainment without worrying about the rain.
The "picture perfect" weather brought out a massive crowd. People were shoulder to shoulder in all directions to the festival! Families were enjoying the great festival food while taking a break on the Historic Courthouse lawn.

Romance must have been in the air at the festival this year. Another proposal was performed at SCG. Unlike the previous day, Janice Hwang decided to take the lead and propose to her future husband, Tim Solberg. She worked with the SCG Festival Board to set-up a fake caricature stand ran by a SCG volunteer. As they both sat and after a few scribbles, the artist revealed the pre-made artwork that showed Janice proposing to Tim. He said yes and they both were brought on stage for their announcement.

Entertainers for Sunday were Six Degress West, Randy Montana and James Wesley. With the perfect weather, each group had large crowds and great times were had by all that attended. James Wesley even came back on stage with a Johnny Cash encore, that's a first for SCG!
