Chamber Makeover

Chamber Makeover
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
In the past year the Chamber has launched a new website, social sites and two mobile apps. With these new additions to the technology front, there was one item needing a facelift.....the logo. A logo is "an identifying statement," as defined by Merriam-Webster. The Chamber wanted a new look that identified the mission of the organization. The Chamber consulted with Kelly Lightfoot, Owner & Creative Director of Ampersand. Thus Chamber's direction was transformed into the above illustration.
"The greatest goal of the Independence Chamber is to support local business and that's exactly what this new brand identity exemplifies," Kelly states. "With the modern illustration of our local cityscape, we also see a blending of the diverse grouping of businesses which all come together under the banner of the Chamber."
The new look reflects today's Chamber and supports the image as a longstanding organization within the community, providing innovative ideas and services for members and community.

Santa-Cali-Gon Days Festival

Saturday - September 3
Saturday, generally the busiest day of SCG for festival goers had to deal with the chaotic weather. Hot and humid temperatures started the morning and afternoon, but as a cool breeze rolled in through the festival so did the storms. Even though it rained most of the evening festival goers were making due, huddled under the craft tents.
Community Stage was bustling on Saturday with the annual watermelon seed spitting contest. Mac the Missouri Maverick entertained the crowd.
When Jen Williams stepped onto main stage to wish her dad a happy birthday, I don't think she expected what happened next. Jen takes her father every year to SCG to celebrate his birthday, "It's a family tradition." What Jen didn't know is her soon to be finance Todd Winborn had a different agenda. After the crowd sang happy birthday to her father, Todd took over the mic. As he moved to one knee the crowd roared and Jen threw her hand up in excitement as the ring was exposed. She said yes.
"But if I had my way I'd take the rain," a lyric from Eli Young Band's When It Rains summed up Saturday in a few short words. As the night continued at SCG so did the weather. The short gaps of clear skies brought the crowds out to see Tate Stevens and The Dirt Drifters, but as Eli Young Band stepped up on stage so did the storm clouds. The band started playing and the crowd was there in droves. As the rain poured down the band continued for as long as they could and the crowd stayed right along. SCG fans are a dedicated group! |

Sunrise Montessori Academy of Independence is a small school with a family-like atmosphere providing a 'home away from home' for which children can freely explore and learn independently through the environment which has been prepared to stimulate natural learning. It is located in southeast Independence and sits on a large lot full of various shade trees that provide a natural landscape for outdoor learning. There are also a variety of plants on the school grounds and a garden for the children to work within providing endless opportunities for hands on science.
Step inside to find a fascinating child-sized environment full of genuine Montessori materials for the children to independently investigate throughout their preschool years. Each child is provided the opportunity for individual lessons and group activities that will fulfill his/her social, emotional, physical and developmental needs.
The school is conveniently located a few minutes from 291 Hwy and I-70 so that busy working parents can easily access the school.
We offer full and part-time academic programs for those focused primarily on early education as well as before/after care for those parents working full time. Here at Sunrise, we choose to provide variety of programs to suit the needs of every family, so that every child can receive the opportunity for an unsurpassed education based on the principles of Dr. Maria Montessori. You choose the programs that meet the needs of your family, and we will do the rest!
