Do you know how to say 'hello' in Swedish? 

Hej (pronounced as "hey")

 
Everyone knows IKEA is originally from Sweden, but not everyone knows the origins of the Swedish language.  Swedish, the official language of Sweden, has its roots in the Germanic language family.

 

With approximately 10 million speakers, Swedish is by far the most spoken language of the Northern Germanic languages, followed by 6 million Danish speakers and 5 million Norwegian speakers.
