Dear Colleagues:

The cost of conducting clinical research is steadily escalating, forcing western companies to look for solutions in emerging regions. As a result, several Asian countries are becoming prominent clinical trial locations. Successful recruitment rates, diverse patient populations, lower costs, and significant regulatory reforms have all been instrumental. However, each country has a unique regulatory approval process, and vast linguistic and cultural differences among patient populations create significant barriers.

We have recently published an article in the February issue of Scrip Clinical Research entitled "Understanding Asia: linguistic and cultural considerations". The article discusses the reasons for exponential growth, as well as the factors that affect Asian clinical trials. What are the language and cultural barriers in Asian countries dominant in clinical research? How can these issues be overcome? Which countries in the region have the most favorable regulatory environments?

Please take this opportunity to read the article available via the following link (also available for members here). We hope that it provides you with new and useful information.

As a language service provider for over fifteen years, we are well aware of the importance of accurate, quality translation, especially in the translation of clinical trial documents. Our life science experts have translation experience in over one hundred languages, including many dominant Asian languages. Not only are they native speakers, they also know the importance of incorporating cultural context to produce high quality, culturally adapted translations.
