Biotech News: China at Annual Meeting of New Champions

 At the World Economic Forum which took place this past month in the Chinese city of Tianjin, China's
Premier Wen Jiabao addressed international business leaders gathered to discuss
Asia's emerging economies. In his speech he emphasized that
while China
plans to maintain its rapid economic expansion, it is committed to balancing
growth with sustainability. Many Western companies are concerned that Asian
companies, especially Chinese-based ones, are "cheating" to gain an advantage in
the emergence of sunrise industries, such as clean energy and biotech, through government
