Global clinical trials continue to expand beyond the borders of countries traditionally associated with clinical research. Clinical trials in Russia have increased exponentially over the past few years - between 2000 and 2006 the number of Russian trials reportedly doubled - making it a major center for outsourcing clinical research. The country's strong reputation for quality research and excellent patient recruitment rates have played a major role in the growth of Russia's clinical research sector.
We have recently published an article in the September issue of the International Journal of Clinical Practice (Volume 64, Issue 10; pp.1347-1349) entitled "Today's Russian Clinical Trial Environment". The article discusses the reasons for continued growth despite economic downturn, as well as the factors that affect Russian clinical trials.
