During the recent oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, the giant oil company BP was forced to learn some difficult lessons. Not only did they find themselves relatively unprepared to contain and clean up the massive oil leak that contaminated the waters, but they were not prepared to deal with the different ethnic groups living and working along the coast...

 This past August, Pakistan experienced one of the worst floods in its history, causing massive destruction in a country already burdened by recent political turmoil. According to the International Red Cross, up to 2.5 million people have been affected by the floods, and rescuers are still struggling to reach affected areas. Turkish belongs to the Altay branch of the Ural-Altay linguistic family. The Altaic languages are named after the region in which they are thought to have originated, the highlands around the Altay Mountains of Central Asia. More than 90 % of all contemporary speakers of Altaic languages speak Turkish.
