Dear Colleagues,
The
abundance of diversity in Brazil - whether
racial, ethnic or socioeconomic - serves as one of several factors that have
caused the country's biotech industry to boom. A primarily urban core provides
clinical researchers with an abundance of subjects at their fingertips. Additionally,
reduced costs as well as highly successful patient recruitment rates
comparative to more developed countries have transformed Brazil into a dominant
outsourcing location for clinical trials among emerging Latin American markets.
We have recently published an article in Informa
Healthcare Clinical Research and Regulatory Affairs entitled
"Addressing Issues Affecting Clinical Trials in Brazil" (June 2010, Vol. 27,
No. 2, pp. 52-59) which provides a summary of the country's current clinical
research environment. The article includes a discussion on the linguistic,
cultural, and socioeconomic factors that affect foreign-sponsored clinical
research in Brazil.
Are the translation requirements in Brazil simpler than those of
Spanish-speaking Latin American countries? What is the ethnic composition of
patients participating in clinical trials? How do socioeconomic factors affect
clinical trials in the country? And what is the current regulatory approval
process?
Take this opportunity to read the article

it provides you with new and useful information.
