Language Connections

March 17, 2009

Dear Colleagues:

Clinical research is increasingly being conducted in emerging regions around the world, including Latin America, Central and Eastern Europe, and Asia. Consequently, biopharmaceutical companies outsourcing global clinical trials must consider all the factors that affect patient recruitment in a particular country or region.

We at Language Connections have a recent publication in the Going Global March 2009 issueof PharmaVoice regarding issues pertinent to global patient recruitment. Published in two parts, entitled "Global Patient Recruitment" and "An Approach to Language in Global Trials", the articles discuss the current challenges that sponsors and CROs face when recruiting patients for international clinical trials. For example, what are the regional linguistic and cultural characteristics that must be considered during patient recruitment? What are the challenges to maintaining ethical standards? What are the particular requirements for regulatory approval?

We hope that you take the opportunity to read our commentary on global patient recruitment in this month's special issue of PharmaVoice pp.42-3; 44-5, accessible via the following link.

As our number one goal is to help companies that are 'going global' to overcome linguistic and cultural hurdles, we specialize in providing translation and localization services in over 100 languages, and can offer insight into specific requirements based on our experiences in each country or region.

We look forward to hearing from you,

Best regards,
