We have been in Kenya for Thanksgiving Day the last 3 years and
 this year we are thankful that God has allowed us to be in the
 States with our family and friends.

For
Gratitude

 Prescription For Gratitude
Recently, I was teaching a class at church regarding our spiritual response to stress in our lives. The class was a portion of a series of classes on the management of pain. I shared with the class that a very well-known fact in healthcare is that much of the pain and disease processes in our bodies is directly related to the stress we experience. All stress, whether from good experiences or negative experiences, causes changes in our bodies. In fact, it is believed that 80-85% of our illnesses are caused from stress.

  

In these days of financial, work, and family pressures, people are expressing more and more issues of stress in their lives. Many are running to physicians for medication to bring them peace and comfort. However, Christians continue to walk in joy and peace as they apply the TRUTH, the Word of God, to their daily lives!

 

In this recent class, I shared 5 "prescriptions" with the students to help them manage their personal stress. The very first "prescription" was:

 

GRATITUDE 

 

The truth is: when we are sensing and offering gratitude to our Heavenly Father continually throughout each day, it is nearly impossible to experience physical and emotional stress. Often, as we travel and serve around the world, we see wonderful children of God who have so very little in the basic needs of life-food, clothing, shelter, medical care.  Yet, their joy is so evident! They have learned to "take" that first "prescription" of peace-gratitude!

 

"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God."  Colossians 3:16

 

May I remind you today-give thanks! Further truth is: if we know Jesus as our Savior, we are blessed beyond measure! Begin today, without delay-take an hourly dose of the "prescription" -GRATITUDE.

 

You will begin to feel better immediately!

 Sharing Missions in America

While in America Mike and I spend time sharing
the importance of missions with all age groups:
 Calvary Chapel Awanas 
   We are thankful for young children like the  Calvary Chapel
 Kindergarten - 2nd grade Awanas.  They were so attentive
as we told them about sharing Jesus around the world.

  These 3rd thru 6th grade Awanas were full of questions about
what it is like to be a missionary and live in another country.
It was very touching when one of the children asked to pray for us.

  
Pastor Chris' Youth Group
The culture in America is trying to brainwash our youth making
them feel they are intolerant if they say that Jesus is the ONLY
way to Heaven.  Parents and youth pastors, like Pastor Chris,
have a challenge to help Christian youth realize that  it is NOT intolerant to proclaim what Jesus said of himself, "I am the way." 
 
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6 ESV

with our dear friends in Hemet, California.  


Missions Dinner
During the week there was a missions banquet with recipes
from many countries.  Pastor Randy asked the congregation
to come dressed for the occasion.
We thank God for individuals and churches who
help us spread the Good News of Jesus!
