Mike and Cheryl Freese "Making the Need Known":

Mike Cheryl & WachiraPastor Wachira arrived at the Portland Airport on Monday July 14th just before midnight. After driving all night we arrived in Chelan, Washington and prepared for the first of many meetings.  Over the next three weeks God used Pastor to touch the hearts of many people in Oregon and Washington.  Some of you are receiving our Newsletter for the first time and we say, "Karibu!" that is Swahili for Welcome.  And to all of you who came out to hear Pastor's message for America and contributed toward the High School and Evangelism projects, we say, "Asante."  Thank you.
Pastor Wachira's Washington Travels

Rich Watson and Wachira in Rich's African Room Rich Watson and Lori Laughlin organized a sweet gathering at Pastor Merv Perterson's "Warehouse Church" in Entiat.   Tim and Denise MacNamara opened their home for Pastor Wachira to fellowship with several other Pastors.    He then preached a powerful message at Bethlehem Chapel in Ephrata, where Pastor Tom and Sharon Ridout and Pastors Joseph and Ruth Meyers brought their congregations together .

Glen Smith, a member of Bethlehem Chapel in Ephrata,Mike and Glen Smith   gave his permission for us to share his testimony. He attended the service on July 16th. Glen had 75% hearing loss for 30 years due to work related injuries.  When Pastor Wachira began to speak, Glen said to the Lord, "I can't hear this preaching."  He was instantly healed.  His hearing continues to be healed.  Isn't God good!
Mike & Duane Warren The last connection we made just before Pastor Wachira boarded the plane was with Duane Warren, a Staff Pastor of Living Hope Church in Vancouver, Washington. Their slogan is, "ONLY GOD" it is so true.  When we look at what we can see of the Universe we say, "ONLY GOD".  When we look into the eyes of our first born child we say, "ONLY GOD".  When we are stepping out to build a High School in Kenya, we say, "ONLY GOD".  They are linking up with Jesus Frees Ministries to bring teams to help in Kenya and we say, "PRAISE GOD."

As a side note: We just spent several days at the Living Hope Church Brush Prairie Campus and discovered that Dave Moore was a worship leader and choir director for several years on that campus before he moved to Southern California.

Word from Wachira: Conclusion of my USA Trip

"Oh we had a great service at Las Cruses, New Mexico. We preached alongside with my mentor, JR. IT IS A LARGE CHURCH OF 1400 AND WAS FULL. The congregation responded to the message very powerfully and the altar was full of people and their tears according to what the Lord was ministering to each person. "

I made it home safely and The Finchum Family & WachiraI send greetings to all the people I met on this trip; how much I cherish the fellowship all gave me.

God Bless You ~ Pastor Wachira

Micah (the Old Testament prophet) asks a question about what God requires of us.  In The Message Bible the answer is paraphrased as this: "But he's already made it plain how to live, what to do, what God is looking for in men and women.  It's quite simple: Do what is fair and just to your neighbor, be compassionate and loyal in your love, and don't take yourself too seriously - take God seriously."  Whether the teaching comes from prophets or Jesus Himself, the message does Kenya Kid Alice & Sharon "Come to Kenya, you'll dig it!"not change.  We are to show compassion to those around us.  Compassion comes in many forms and we thank you for joining Jesus Frees Ministries with prayer, finances and team participation as we reach out to others.

Ezra & Pastor Sherry Cox: Short-Term Missions Directors
Coxes & Freeses with Mama Wachira
Welcome to Kenya!

In the book of Proverbs, there are some very wise words spoken by a woman-the mother of King Lemuel-that are wise and significant even for today in our missions' work. Listen..."speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute...defend the rights of the poor and needy."  (Proverbs 31: 8,9) That is the desire of the missionaries around the world, including Jesus Frees Ministries.

So often, it is only when we see first-hand, the desperate needs (spiritual and physical) that one can really "grasp" the need. And, we know the Spirit "woos" one's heart often when we are the most vulnerable--our hearts are softened.

We want to encourage you--don't be afraid to "look." The experience of short-term missions' work will change you forever. Your priorities and desires will change. When you visit the work in Kenya, we will ensure that your hands will be "put to work" where you are comfortable and "called" by the Spirit.
