Greetings!
What a night! With over $10,000 in donated auction items, including fabulous Whistler getaway packages, dozens of race entries, clothing, supplements, runners, renovation services and even cooking lessons, the Silent Auction and Fund Raising Gala was a success, pulling in close to $7,000 by the end of the night!
A heartfelt thanks to everyone that came out and showed their supported for the event, and to all the individuals and companies that donated auction items for the special night.

TRIATHLON RACE SERIES, ROUND 2: Beautiful Vancouver Island and the Community of Sooke invite you to participate in the 6th Annual Team X Sooke Spring Sprint Triathlon on Sunday, April 20th. The fast, technical and hilly course is great for both veteran and newcomers alike. Both Adult and Junior triathletes will compete in their respective divisions for Race Series points.
Expect beautiful scenery, great food, awesome prizes AND a really good time! Proceeds from this event will go to bursaries to allow kids to participate in sport.
2009 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFYING EVENTS: Looking to qualify for an age group spot for the 2009 World Championships? BC plays host to five qualifying opportunities, from July through to September.

BC SUMMER GAMES, JULY 24-27, KELOWNA: An amateur sporting event held every other year, the BC Games are aimed at developing and exposing young athletes, aged 14 & 15, to a multisport environment.
Get your kids involved, visit the TriBC website, and click on the Youth Race Calendar for full details and a list of qualifying events.
CLUB COACHING REQUIREMENTS: With the successful pilot of the community coaching program now complete, TriBC plans to phase out coaching equivalencies over the next two years, adopting the Community Coaching program as a mandatory minimum level of certification for all clubs seeking insurance, effective with the 2010 Triathlon season. Please plan to enrol your coaches in an upcoming Community coaching program in the not too distant future.
ITU WORLDS VOLUNTEER CALL: Calling out to all who eat, drink and breathe sports - sign up as a volunteer and WIN! All volunteers, registered prior to April 30th, will be eligible to win tickets to Chiapas, Mexico for the Triathlon World Cup on October 12th, 2008. The draw for the winner will take place at the Volunteer Appreciation Party on Sunday June 8th, as part of the closing ceremonies!

In less than seven weeks, the multisport World will have its eyes trained squarely on BC, as Vancouver plays host to the 2008 World Championships. A particularly exciting event being the last selection race before the Beijing Olympics, the World Championships will offer triathletes from BC a unique opportunity to showcase our athletic talent, cheerful hospitality and keen volunteerism. I encourage everyone in the triathlon community to become ambassadors for this event, showing support for a once in a lifetime opportunity.
