Congressional Cemetary
Welcome to Tech Painting Company, Inc.

Although summer quickly faded into memory we were still hard a work on several interesting projects. And now as the temperatures start to dip, our clients are rushing to get on our schedule to get their projects painted before the weather takes a turn for the worse.
Job of the Month Congressional Cemetary Chapel
As Halloween approached we were asked to give this vital, yet largely unknown, national historical landmark a much needed bit of tender care from our professional hands. This is the chapel at the heart of Congressional Cemetery, which lies just north of the Anacostia River on Capitol Hill. It is the final resting place of ambassadors, congressmen, chief justices, vice-presidents, and other notable figures from throughout history, not the least of which include former FBI head J. Edgar Hoover and the iconic Marine Corps band leader John Phillip Sousa.

The chapel is just over a century old and has been the site of hundreds of internments. The chapel was so busy in the early days that six coffin bays were built into the sides of the building so that multiple funerals could be held within a single day. The chapel still serves in this capacity to this day.

The chapel is adorned with beautiful stained glass windows on all sides. In an attempt to protect the windows from vandals and errant stones cast up by the groundskeeper's lawn mower, the windows were covered by plexiglass storm windows. Over the last twenty or so years the plastic had yellowed badly. Tech Painting was asked to remove these coverings and restore the windows to their former glory. The windows now exude the rich colors as they were intended, casting a warm glow upon the chapel's interior. The job was finished  in time for the upcoming 154th annual celebration of John Phillip Sousa's birth, which takes place on November 6th of this year.

Class is in Session
Tech Painting now offers English classes to all of our Hispanic employees. We recently hired Alejandra Rimada, a Argentinian born teacher, from a local elementary school. Alejandra comes to our office three days a week to teach English as a second language. The painters are held in rapt attention as she conjugates verbs and oversees their exams. Each student has their own text book, which allows them to continue their studies at home.

The classes are divided into two grades. Those with a better command of the English language come to class once a week.  Those who need a bit more instruction attend twice a week. Enthusiasm for the classes is widespread within the company. This program benefits both the employees and the company as a whole. Our painters will be better able to communicate with everyone in their daily lives as well as with our customers and their colleagues.

Annual Picnic
Annual Picnic
Face painting
This past weekend the company threw its annual picnic for all employees and their families. Face painting and balloon sculptures were a huge hit with the kids. Everyone enjoyed a burger or dog from the president's grill.

After filling up on the food the adults took to the field for the much anticipated soccer match between the Residential squad and the Commercial squad. A tightly fought contest ensued. Dazzling footwork and thunderous kicks sent the ball at a dizzying speed down the field. The Commercial team left the field as victors after two quick goals in the second half decided the game.

The two teams and spectators wound down with some refreshments while regaling one another about their feats on the field.
