Greetings!
Wow, what a year! Don't know about you, but I can't even believe it is almost over. All that's left is to make it through all the holiday parties, shopping, wrapping and yes...eating (which invariably leads to our favorite pastime, dieting!) UGH! For now though, I recommend we just eat, drink and be merry. After all, this season isn't about restraint. It's about being joyous and loving life and each other. That of course, is the very best gift we can give...love.
I hope you can enjoy the best of what this season offers as we rush into the holidays. Just remember, don't forget to love yourself too!
Take Care, Linda |

Like to cook? Me too! But, I'm not one of those who can just whip up a gourmet meal with whatever ingredients are in the refrigerator (after all, beer only works in so many recipes.) But, give me a recipe and I can usually whip up something that both tastes and looks great. (References can be supplied). HA! At any rate, I came upon a good offer from Cooking Light magazine; thought I'd pass it on. I've subscribed for several years and have yet to be disappointed in the recipes.
So, if you need to find a great Christmas gift (even if it is for yourself) that won't break the bank, click here to save 90% off the cover price. (No, I don't get a cut of the business, I just like the product.) |

 |
Join us and celebrate all of the love in your life! A highlight of the LGBT social calendar in Washington, Mautner Project's gala brings together some 1,200 or more individuals and companies from the LGBT community, and friends, families, and allies. The gala is a celebratory evening with a cocktail reception, stellar silent and live auctions, an elegant seated dinner, dancing with DJ JFX. Gala chairs are Lynne Brown, publisher of the "Washington Blade"; Colleen Dermody of "Witeck-Combs Communications"; and the Reverend Dyan Abena McCray, founding pastor of the Unity Fellowship Church in Washington. In addition, Mautner will be honoring Ms. Hala Moddelmog, President of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Special singles tables will be available because after all, what better way to find your sweetheart than on Valentine's Day! The Gala will also feature a special live performance by DC's favorite group BETTY - featured on "The L Word." When: February 14th, 2009 from 6:30 PM to 1 AM Where: Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC (2500 Calvert Street NW) Cost: $200 ($125 is tax deductible) For more information, please call the Mautner office at 202-332-5536 or email. | Like to Read, but Spend Your Time Commuting?
Try Audio Books |
| Audible - features more than 50,000 digital titles including novels, magazines, radio shows, and podcasts. Members receive price breaks, and a one-book-per-month subscription costs $15. Nonmembers can download books for $15 to $50 per title.
Overdrive - partners with libraries nationwide to offer free book downloads to library cardholders. A word of warning, most books come in the WMA format, which requires devices compatible with Windows XP.
AudiobooksForFree - has a "generous (if eclectic) selection of free titles." The catch? Most books in the public domain are "musty classics rather than today's best-sellers." Free audio recordings also tend to be low quality; higher-quality versions cost from $5 to $8.

Have Something to Sell?
Have to tell you, I LOVE Craig's List. So far, we've sold a pool table, BowFlex and weights, bookshelves and a bedroom set. The ads were free, and I didn't have to haggle. Recommend you give it a try. (Yell if you have questions, be happy to help.) |
