Greetings!

As the presidential political race comes to an end (yes, it will eventually end), and the ads become even nastier (if that's possible), I am increasingly convinced, as the Beatles touted, that "all we need is love".  If only love made the world go around, versus money and power.  Holly and I were just this morning discussing whether or not someone who is alone can really be happy.  She says yes, I say no (can you tell she is the introvert and I'm the extrovert)? ;)  I think someone who is alone can be very content, but I don't think they'll experience some of the highs that come with loving and being loved by someone special.  Of course, being alone means you don't experience the lows either, so I guess there are trade offs.  All I know is I was very happy to hear from a couple of my friends this week who called me with the good news that they'd met wonderful women and were blissfully happy.  Horray!!!!

Point is, I just don't think we can have too much love in the world.  Love for our families, love for each other and, even more importantly, love for ourselves.  I wish for all of you much health, love, and success.

Take Care, Linda

Help Repeal "Don't Ask, Don't Tell"

car

Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) has just created a survey on DADT. Please take a minute or two and go to the below link and fill out the survey - it is only five questions. You do not have to be a MOAA member to complete the survey. Also please send this on to any past or present military officers who you think would respond favorably to repealing DADT. MOAA is 300,000 strong and the average member age is about 75 plus (and likley fairly conservative) so we need to get as many people who support repeal to take the survey.

MOAA DADT Survey

Women only make up 19% of the Armed Forces, but account for almost 50% of the discharges under "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" (DADT)

♥ what you want AND what you already have
Heck yeah, life is your own personal candy store! There is no need to pretend you like soy chocolate when Belgium milk chocolate is what really stirs your taste buds. This is true for all aspects of your life. Being clear about what you like, AND thankful for what you have, sends a clear and direct message to the universe.

The universe only knows how to agree with you. Not sure what you really want? Spend more time enjoying the next ingredient, while noticing and acting on what feels good.

♥ feeling good, happy, and joyful.
Ah, this ingredient is the foundation for life, and for all other ingredients in this recipe. Yes, trust what feels good to you, and the other ingredients come to life with such ease.   Since the Law of Attraction brings you what you vibrate emotionally, welcome feeling good as your guide for life and love. Do you want feel good, happy connections with women? I do!

♥ days filled with "I love you", "thank you", joy and laughter.
This is my sentimental favorite ingredient. Talk to yourself, your animals, lover, kids, friends, the grocery clerk and say "I love you" and "thank you" a zillion times during the day.

Connecting Our Community
Supporting the Sisterhood
 gigi girl
I recently had the pleasure of "meeting" (on-line), MaryAnn and Louise, who own Dyke Notes, a website for lesbians in the Miami area.  They, like Les Connections, promote our "keeping it in the community" and turning to each other first for help and business opportunities.  They passed on a story about how community really can make a difference, especially when times are tough.

Billie Potts, one of the businesswomen listed on their website said she "grew up in an Orthodox Jewish family living in an Italian/Irish/German Catholic working class Bronx neighborhood. Mutual economic aid among Jews was one of the essential practical tools - charity boxes(piske cans) in every home for the less fortunate, organized aid societies for health care, funerals, schooling, no-interest loans to Jews in need, a seat at the table for the hungry stranger, trading only within the Jewish community for survival necessities."

Community should be there for each other.  MaryAnn and Louise believe our community of lesbians should support itself and so do I!  Please check out our lesbian-owned businesses at:   Services and Products.

Diet Danger: High Fructose Corn Syrup
The Effects of Corn Syrup Aren't So Sweet

Trying to save money, food companies introduced High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) into the food market in the 1970s. Sweetening manufactured foods this way is profitable, because it is less expensive and much sweeter than sugar, yet easy to transport because of its liquid state. Today HFCS is found in a variety of foods from soda pop to ketchup, fruit drinks to salad dressings, cereals, breads, flavored yogurt, and sauces.

What is Fructose?
Fructose, a monosaccharide, is sometimes called "fruit sugar" because it is naturally found in fruits. Fructose is also found in honey, and is a component of table sugar (sucrose), which is a disaccharide composed of fructose and glucose.

When we eat most carbohydrate foods, the blood sugar level increases and insulin is secreted to transport the sugar into the body's cells. Besides helping to transport blood sugar, insulin also triggers the release of a hormone called leptin. Leptin helps control hunger by...

Wonderful Job Opportunity for Caretaker at "B&B Ranch" Near Phoenix
Might Be Just the Right Match for You!

Sue and Sara own Susa's Serendipity Ranch in Apache Junction, Arizona (about 35 minutes east of Phoenix).  This beautiful 20-acre "Ranch" has done very well in the past, but now both Sue and Sara have medical conditions (arthritus & severe fibro myalgia.  Their sitiuations have gotten progessively worse in the past couple of years to the point where it is almost impossible for them to do all the "routine" day to day things such as cleaning, caring for all their wonderful pets, etc.

Here's where the opportunity comes in.  Sue and Sara are looking for a woman who's thinking of moving to Arizona who might want to be work as an all-around caretaker for their place and pets while living in one of their large, beautifully decorated guest units overlooking the mountains.

They need someone soonest as they've actually had to stop taking guests until they get some help.   Click here to learn more about the property and email Sue with questions.
