The inaugural celebration concert kicking off the national release tour will be held where Suede's 25 year career began, in the Baltimore/Washington corridor, on Saturday, May 31 in Washington, DC at the historic Church of the Epiphany, 1317 G St., NW. Concert time is 8pm. The events on Sunday for LGCW are a brunch at Starfish Cafe from 11:30 - 1:30, then the annual shop with suede auction to benefit LGCW at 4pm at St's Monica and James Episcopal Church - both on 8th St. Tickets and more information are available online at www.suedewave.com.
Suede's last DVD release currently airs nationally on PBS stations. Her recording of "Emily Remembers" garnered national radio airplay and was the number one song of the year on Washington DC's WJZW radio thanks to Al Santos' Sunday Jazz Brunch show. She began her career in the Baltimore/Annapolis/DC area playing local bar gigs 25 years ago and has gone on to fill the best concert halls and jazz clubs nationwide - all with her own company, Easily Suede Music.
One part rat pack and one part Rosie Clooney, Suede is the "Diva la Difference" - sassy, classy and fun. She plays piano, trumpet and guitar, but voice is her first instrument and entertaining is her first love. On this new release she is backed by her New York based, hand picked, Dangerous Big Band of core trio and 9 piece horn section.
Imagine a cross between Ella Fitzgerald and Bette Midler, add a dash of Louis Armstrong, and you might get some idea of Suede's powerful presence, musical talents, and well honed skills. She is a consummate entertainer and song stylist among the likes of Tony Bennett and company - the classic singer's singer. Suede sings original material and pop, blues and jazz standards like nobody you've ever heard. Think sophisticated pop/jazz; think naughty blues with a sizzling trumpet, think love songs that make you swoon, think funny, think wow, what a voice!
