SYMMETRY RECEIVES PRESTIGIOUS SOLIDWORKS AWARD
For the fourth year in a row, Symmetry Solutions has been named part of DS SolidWorks Corp's prestigious SolidWorks Elite 190 Club. The Elite 190 Club designation is awarded only to DS SolidWorks Corp value-added resellers (VARs) who exceed the highest benchmarks for customer retention, subscription renewals, and technical support responsiveness. From over 300 VARs worldwide, only four VARs in North America achieved Elite 190 status. Prior to the Elite 190 Club, Symmetry Solutions was a perennial member of various SolidWorks subscription service award clubs, including the "Over 90's Club".

Symmetry's own Director of Sales, Peter Adam, received the highest score on the CSSM Peter was awarded an iPad at the SolidWorks Award dinner for receiving the highest score on the final test upon completion of the Certified SolidWorks Sales Management Program (CSSM). The program included a full day of classroom study and another day of presentations by the students followed by the test. Over 40 people world-wide participated in this program and testing! Congratulations to Peter!

SolidWorksWorldrecapSOLIDWORKS WORLD RECAP
As always, SolidWorks World was full of new product announcements and surprises. Specifically, SolidWorks discussed their ongoing and future product strategy and direction including the addition of online and mobile platforms. However, CEO Bertrand Sicot made it very clear that even though SolidWorks was investing into online and mobile platforms, rest assured that this will not be an "either/or" decision for the customer. SolidWorks will always offer locally-installed desktop CAD, data management and validation solutions. We are extremely excited about these new, future platforms & product offerings and how they will help increase product design & development efficiencies.

On day 1 - general session - The keynote speakers, Captain Jim Lovell and Mission Control Director Gene Kranz from Apollo 13, described the events of the Apollo 13 mission and their heroic efforts & engineering ingenuity to successfully return the astronauts to Earth. Read more about Day 1.

On day 2 - general session - SolidWorks's founder Jon Hirschtick introduced some really cool customers including the first SolidWorks customer, Dr. Bill Townsend, founder, president, & CEO of Barrett Technologies. The morning finished up with Darren Henry of SolidWorks bringing out Casey Pieretti and Bill Spracher from the new Discovery Channel show Bionic Builders. Casey, a Hollywood stuntman and amputee, and Bill, an Engineer/Inventor, related how they push the product design envelope to build appendages that make their amputee clients not just perform usual tasks, but rock climb, scuba dive, run faster, jump higher. Read more about Day 2.

On day 3 - general session - A surprise guest, Kevin Bacon, who played Jack Swigert in the movie Apollo 13, made an appearance. He discussed how engineering plays a role in his life and movie making. Read more about Day 3.

All in all, we had a great time in San Antonio and look forward to next year's event in San Diego. Read more about SWW '11 and see some pictures in our latest blog posting.
