Hello Friends:
As most of you know from past e-mails, my annual Student Appreciation Party is happening THIS SATURDAY NIGHT, Jan. 12, from 8pm-12:30am, in Oakland (details below).
The party was originally to be held at my friend Moustapha Diop's restaurant in Berkeley called Taxi Brousse. Unfortunately Taxi B (as it is affectionately called) suffered serious roof damage in the recent storm and on Wed. Jan. 9, Moustapha called to inform me that Taxi B would be closed until the roof was repaired!
At first I was disappointed (and a bit worried), then I realized what a great opportunity this was to reach out to my community of friends and find a new venue. And I did!!
So, party people, the party is ON!!!!
Same date, same time, same rhythm, different venue!
Be advised: this is a DANCE PARTY. My good friend, and fabulous DJ, SpinCycle, will be bringing us his unique mix of African, Samba, HipHop, Salsa, Old School Funk, Reggae... You will be sweating. Drum session at 9:30pm Sharp.

This party is for EVERYONE, student or not, young and old, dancers, drummers, hangers-on, friends, lovers, spouses and ex's, anyone and everyone. Plus, it's FREE!
I am so pleased to announce that my Rhythm Brother, good friend and incredible DJ, SpinCycle (also known as Jim Sowers) will be providing the beats!!!!
SpinCycle plays a truly unique mix of African, Samba, HipHop, Salsa, Old-School Funk, NuBrazilian.....and he's not above dropping a tune by the Untouchables or Bob Dylan when needed.
