2007 was a beautiful year for me. Yes, I am pleased with reaching the milestone of my 3,000th student taught, and yes, I am proud of my 3 Instructional DVD releases, and yes I offered more classes and workshops than ever before. But even more importantly, I learned a few things: 1) My outside world directly relflects how I feel about myself, 2) My children are my greatest source of growth, and 3) Nature is my surest peace.
The challenge for 2008 is to put this knowledge into practice, one moment at a time. Please help me. Let me know if I'm slipping.

If this band did not exist, it would be necessary to invent them. Cuban ex-pats living in England blend it all: ska, funk, salsa, cumbia, orisha music, reggae. Non-stop party music.
3. Damien Marley: Welcome to Jamrock
Quite simply, the best album by ANY of Bob's many musical children. Reveals the soul of Jamaica music: reggae, hip-hop, dancehall, ska, mento.
4. Amadou & Miriam: Dimanche A Bamako
The Malian blues and rock duo of Amadou and Miriam combine with world pop sensation Manu Chao to deliver the catchiest tunes of 2007.
5. Ozomatli: Street Signs
This band of East Los Angeleans blend funk, hiphop, cumbia, salsa, merengue, even middle-eastern rhythms, for an all-inclusive party. The message is clear: Life is Good!

I teach three levels of hand percussion: "Level 1: Yes, I Have Rhythm" is for people who have never touched a drum or who consider themselves "rhythmically challenged". We use tall, standing drums and work with basic syncopation, handclapping, singing....all designed to bring you back to the beat. All drums provided. Drumming Class Schedule
"Level 2: 10 Rhythms" is designed for people with some drumming, musical or dance experience. You love the beat, and this class will teach you the 10 Most Popular World Rhythms, including salsa, samba, hiphop, bellydance, calypso. more. Comes with a full-length DVD covering all 10 rhythms. In "Level 3: Ensemble", you'll put it all together! Using the 10 Most Popular World Rhythms as your base, you'll learn complimentary and supporting rhythms and percussion and gain the ability to lead a percussion ensemble of your own! All drums and percussion instruments provided.
