Support The SVL Park Project
Dear SVL Member,
The community has been working on plans to construct a Multi-Use/Skate Park facility in Meadow Lark Park (Rolling Ridge at the Community Building) to provide our younger members a place to recreate in a safe and controlled environment which should significantly reduce the skate boarding in the parking lots and streets. Over the last year and a half the Association hosted numerous meetings and demonstrations regarding the skate park to provide the venue to have questions answered and concerns addressed. Click Here for a summary of the various questions and concerns.
If you support our efforts to offer a safer and more controlled location for the youth of our community to enjoy their sport, please complete the form letter and mail it back to the San Bernardino County Planning Commission no later than August 30, 2011 (Print Skate Park Form ).
The hearing is September 8, 2011. We encourage supporters to attend. We will advise as to where and when in the near future.
In the event you have additional questions and/or concerns, please contact me at jsabo@svla.com or call 760.245.9756.

Summer Heat Brings on Algae
Green algae is a living single cell aquatic creature that multiplies rapidly on warm , sunny, and still days. When conditions are right, an algae bloom can occur seemingly overnight. These conditions include out of balance water, warm temperatures, sunlight, and presence of nitrates and/or carbon dioxide, and of course lack of circulation.
Green algae is usually found free floating in the water and will usually cling to walls and the concrete coving because of its shallowness (heat). Algae reduces water clarity, which will impart a clear, green color to the water. Varieties of green algae also appear as spots on surfaces, particularly rough surfaces, or places where circulation is low like this morning. Green algae also colonizes as sheets to surface areas which you have seen in certain areas.
The green filamentous algae (the slimy - stringy algae) is actually not harmful. Filamentous Algae absorbs the excess nutrients and oxygenates the water. |
