LAKE TREATMENT WILL NOT
HARM FISH LIFE
To All Spring Valley Lake Members:

Operations and Maintenance have received phone calls regarding dead fish floating in the lake. We removed less than 20 dead fish from the lake and only one was a gamefish.  The dead fish are NOT due to the chemical treatment we conducted last week.

The chemical we used is aluminum sulphate in 48% solution and is a standard treatment for drinking water reservoirs.  Typically, the only way alum would harm the fishery is if we allowed the ph to drop below 6.  Our ph levels are healthy at 7.8 and have remained steady throughout the treatments.

We would like everyone to know that the lake is safe for boating, swimming, and fishing.  Please feel free to call me with any of your concerns and I will be happy to help!
