Greetings!
Tightening
2009 Marketing Budget? Examine Your Return on Investment.
While
discussing the state of the economy and its impact on marketing budgets, a
colleague of mine explained how she was re-evaluating her approach to sourcing
her marketing, PR and events programs.
Was
she hiring a new person? There are two reasons this wasn't the solution. First, hiring budgets are frozen and secondly,
even if they weren't, finding the perfect fit takes a long time.
What
about hiring a new agency? Again, not the best option in that all the time
spent requesting and screening proposals and interviewing agencies is often
time down the tubes. Plus, the mark-ups and costs associated with an agency -
not to mention the time spent managing it - can often mean more investment for
less return.
But
that focus on return on investment led her to a third option: bringing on an events and PR consultant.
In
an economy where every penny counts, a consultant can help deliver without
being a drain on the events, marketing, communications or PR budget.
Let's
take a look at how an events, marketing or PR consultants will help you:
Consultants
can focus on return on investment. Return on investment (or ROI) is
something that you should be able to see on paper and feel in your gut. For
every dollar spent, your consultant should be able to show
how that investment translated into a quantifiable return to the program. And
if your consultant or agency is treating your budget like an expenditure rather
than an investment, it's time to look around for a new strategic partner.
Consultants
can be flexible and scalable. Campaigns and events programs often change quickly, and a single consultant can adapt to new needs or goals much
more nimbly than a larger firm. The best consultants will help you find the
trusted marketing service providers you need to achieve your goals and vision.
Consultants
can help build in-house capacity. Some agencies and big event planning firms make their money by doing
things that your company could probably do for itself. And almost all agencies
are compensated based on the amount of work conducted, regardless of the value
to the client. On the flipside, consultants can often help assess needs within
an organization's events or marketing program and help the staff address them
internally, building value for the entire organization without spending a
fortune.
So,
if this newsletter is sharing your inbox with a 2009 marketing budget that has
fewer dollar signs and more question marks, consider looking at it from an ROI
perspective.
Your
boss - and your budget - will be glad you did.

Plug into Profits: Internet Strategies to Boost Your Business"
There are only a few days left to maximize your savings on NSA-MAC's 2009
all-day Intensive event, ""Plug into Profits: Internet Strategies to
Boost Your Business" http://nsamidatlantic.org/events/intensive2009/
This event aimed squarely at ANY small business owner who wants to:
- Generate more and better
leads from your online efforts, using websites, blogs, podcasts, and
social media
- Use e-mail newsletters
(ezines) and promotions to extend your brand and grow your business
- Motivate more of your
prospects to take action - whether it's buying your products, inquiring
about your services or signing up for your ezine
- Improve your position in
search engine rankings so your website attracts highly qualified prospects
at the very moment they're searching for your exact type of product or
service
- Develop paid search
strategies that deliver high returns without breaking the bank
So please forward this invitation to anyone in your circle who might benefit
from these strategies...
Think of your clients, colleagues, service providers, networking friends,
accountants, attorneys, designers, marketers, CEOs, sales reps, realtors,
insurance agents, and anyone else who wants more clients, more revenue, and
more sales of their products and services.
The agenda is packed with tools and strategies to help YOU turn your web
presence into sales and enhance your bottom line.
Here's what we have planned for you:
Morning Session
Use the Internet and Web 2.0 to Establish Authority, Boost Your Brand, and
Build Your Business
As the list of web technologies and social media tools continues to explode, it
can be overwhelming trying to figure out what to do - or even where to begin -
to drive prospects and customers to your website. But your next level of
success in growing your business might very well depend on it, so you
definitely can't afford to leave things to chance.
This value-packed session, led by nationally recognized internet marketing
expert Tom Gray from Denver,
Colorado, will take the mystery
and a big chunk of the fear out of pursuing the many opportunities that Web 2.0
and social media present to drive prospects to your website and convert those
prospects to profit-rich customers. You'll understand what Web 2.0 and the
social media explosion is all about and take away actionable ideas that you can
put to work immediately.
Lunch and Auction
Eat, network, and join the fun bidding on valuable products and services
specially chosen to help you grow your business! You'll choose a "table
interest group" focused on a specfic internet marketing strategy you want
to explore.

interest to you and walk away with dozens of low-cost and no-cost strategies
that will make your cash register go ka-ching!
