Save time avoid the parking line

Make parking a breeze during your next trip to Reno-Tahoe International Airport. Avoid the line when exiting the parking garage by pre-paying using one of two easy ways.

Pay on Foot machines are located throughout the parking garage and allow motorists to insert their parking ticket and pay with cash, credit or debit card. This walk-up system near the pedestrian entrances and exits has also been enhanced to handle credit card transactions.

Parking Pay on Foot

Need a receipt for your stay, no problem. As soon as the ticket is paid, a paper receipt will print from the Pay on Foot machine. Upon exit from the garage, travelers can chose from any of the six exit lanes that read "Credit or Pre-paid." (Hint: these are usually the lanes without any lines.)

Passengers who choose not to utilize the Pay on Foot machines may still avoid the line by paying with credit or debit. Simply select any lane at the parking exit that reads, "Credit or Pre-paid," insert your parking ticket in to the automated machine and follow the voice commands.

Need a receipt? Again, no problem. A receipt will be printed for you. Accepted credit cards are:  Visa, Master Card, American Express and Discover as well as debit cards that display those credit card logos.

So the next time you fly through the airport, fly through the parking exit by paying with a credit card or using the Pay on Foot machine.

Labor Day Travel Tip

The Burning Man Festival has begun and the airport is busy with arriving Burning Man attendees. Peak departure days for the "Burners" will be Sunday, September 6 - Tuesday, September 8.

For passengers ending their Labor Day holiday traveling out of the airport on Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday, be sure to allow at least 90 minutes to check-in, because the Ticket Lobby and Security Checkpoints will be busy.

Airport welcomes Burning Man

This year's Burning Man festival is expected to bring 15,000 travelers through RNO, making it the airport's second largest annual event. Already, thousands of Burners have arrived, including travelers from 31 different foreign countries.

Burners

To help these visitors, the airport has collaborated with the Burning Man organizers to staff a welcome table in Baggage Claim called Air Playa Info. For visitors from Iceland to Italy, Moracco to Monaco, these volunteers are providing important travel information to get the Burners safely to and from the Playa.

Greetings!

It is hard to believe it's already September and that fall is just around the corner.

September in Reno-Tahoe offers something for everyone, from the Balloon Races to the Rib Cook-Off, to the Candy Dance and Street Vibrations to name a few.

But of course most exciting for the airport is the National Championship Air Races at the Reno-Stead Airport. Our staff works closely with the Reno Air Race Association to provide a clean, safe facility to host the Air Races each year. We hope you will get out and enjoy a day at the races Wednesday - Sunday, September 16 - 20.

Thank you for your interest and we hope to see you soon at Reno-Tahoe International or Reno-Stead Airport.

Sincerely,

New air service to Mammoth and L.A.

Reno-Tahoe International Airport is adding a new flight between Reno and Mammoth Lakes, CA with non-stop daily service on Horizon Airlines starting December 17.

Horizon Airlines announced that the ski season service will run through April 11. A 76-seat Bombardier Q400 will depart Reno each day at 4:30 PM and arrive at Mammoth Mountain at 5:20 PM. Another Q400 will depart Mammoth at 4:20 PM and land in Reno at 5:10 PM.

"We are excited to add air service that will enhance the economic impact for the ski industry that is so important to our region," Krys Bart, President/CEO of Reno-Tahoe International Airport said, "During these tough economic times, we have been working very hard with the airlines to attract new flights and Horizon has stepped forward for our community."

Also exciting is that this new service will provide more ways for travelers to fly to the Los Angeles area. The flight will start in Seattle and land in Reno and Mammoth before continuing on to Los Angeles.

"Los Angeles is our second busiest market and this new flight will offer one-stop service to help our customers fly between our incredible region and the popular Southern California area." Bart said.

Tickets are on sale now at www.horizonair.com.
Southwest to offer new daily non-stop to Phoenix

Reno-Tahoe International Airport is adding a new non-stop daily flight to Phoenix, Arizona on Southwest Airlines starting January 10, 2010.

The new flight will feature a 136-seat Boeing 737 and will increase frequency to the Phoenix market on Southwest from two daily non-stop departures to three daily non-stop departures. The new flight will also offer excellent connections throughout the Southwest Airlines system.

"Adding this new flight highlights Southwest Airlines' commitment to our airport and shows that Reno-Tahoe is an important part of their future plans for growth," Krys Bart, CEO/President of Reno-Tahoe International Airport, said.

The new flight announcement also illustrates how Reno-Tahoe International is bucking a trend of airline cutbacks at airports across the nation.

"In these unprecedented economic times, we are doing everything we can to add air service for the benefit of the community," Bart said. "We will continue to meet with airlines throughout North America in an effort to add flights. But remember, we can add service, but it is entirely up to the community to fill the seats we bring in."
Good Finance accounts for 20-year award

For the 20th consecutive year, the Certificate of Achievement for excellence in financial reporting has been awarded to the Reno-Tahoe International Airport Finance and Administration Department Accounting Section by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR).

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

"We congratulate the entire financial accounting staff for their efforts and dedication in providing accurate financial reporting data," said Krys Bart, CEO/President of the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority, "While our airport is a self-sufficient enterprise that takes no local tax dollars, we still must comply with very strict and complex local, state, and federal financial reporting laws.  We are fortunate to have true professionals developing a financially sound budget during these critical economic times."

In fact, thanks to strict budget operations and a close watch of spending, the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority has not only met its financial goal for Fiscal Year 08-09 but surpassed it with higher revenue and less spending than expected. Receiving this award for financial reporting is a real plus during today's market.
"The best way in and out of the Reno-Tahoe region is getting even better."
