If travelers have a bag to check, they must enter the Temporary Ticket Lobby (the tent-like structure on the front of the airport) from the outside. The Temporary Ticket Lobby cannot be accessed from inside the terminal building.

The Airport Baggage Check-in Project is the construction of a new high tech baggage handling system and ticket lobby. The majority of the project involves sensitive security information (SSI) due to the creation of an intricate and state-of-the-art bag belt system and security process. The overall project is expected to be
complete in December.

In mid-July, a
grand new entrance will welcome visitors to the Reno-Tahoe International Airport with a freshly remodeled entry that includes stone-wrapped pillars, natural colored tiles and floating ceiling panels.
Southwest earns "Top Performer" award

The Southwest Airlines station at Reno-Tahoe International Airport was recently named the "Top Performer" for medium sized Southwest stations across the United States.

Top Performing stations are selected based upon performance, customer commendations and productivity. The medium-sized category includes stations with 30-55 flights per day.

Southwest is the largest airline operating at Reno-Tahoe International and offers 54 percent of the flights available each day. Krys Bart, President/CEO of the Reno-Tahoe International Airport, said the Top Performer Award underscores Southwest's commitment to the community.

"Fifty four percent of all flights at RNO are provided by Southwest, a true award winning operation that provides excellent customer service," Bart said. "We encourage travelers to support Southwest by filling the seats on the 34 flights per day they offer at Reno-Tahoe International."

Delta Air Lines offers non-stop summer service to
Minneapolis/St.Paul

Beginning June 6, passengers will have a new way to travel to Minneapolis-St.Paul as Delta Air Lines starts non-stop service from Reno-Tahoe International Airport.

Minneapolis (MSP) is a hub airport in the recently-merged Delta-Northwest system and will provide excellent connections to international flights in Europe and Canada.

The Saturday-only service will be o
ffered between June 6 and Sept. 6 and will feature a 124-seat Airbus 319. The once-a-week flight provides an opportunity to prove to the airlines that the Reno-Tahoe community deserves a daily non-stop flight.

"This new seasonal service is a test for our community," Krys T. Bart, President/CEO of Reno-Tahoe International Airport, said. "It's truly a case of use it or lose it.
Minneapolis was a successful market for us in the past and I know our community can fill those seats again," Bart said.

Due to the recent merger of Northwest and Delta, passengers flying to Minneapolis will notice that their ticket information will include the Northwest name and logo. But customers should report to the Delta ticket counter for a Boarding Pass and Ticketing information.

The flight will depart MSP at 9:15 a.m. arriving in Reno at 11 a.m. The return flight will depart Reno at noon arriving in MSP at 5:20 p.m.
Two designer boutiques land at Reno-Tahoe International

The Paradies Shops is excited to announce their newest addition to the Reno-Tahoe International Airport.

sue verticalDesigns by Sue is an innovative concept in retail design and unlike anything else in the airport.  It is full of fashion value with every item retailing at $10 or less.  There is something for everyone with new merchandise arriving every week.

The store currently showcases items such as jewelry, handbags and small leather goods, scarves, ties, and watches. And the inventory will rotate on a regular basis to keep customers returning for the latest trends in fashion.

Located within the public area of the terminal building near the Food Court, Designs by Sue can be accessed by all visitors with or without an airline ticket.

For more retail options, check out Northwest Duty Free's The Boutique which has recently expanded.

The Duty Free shop was formerly located outside the "B" Security Checkpoint where Southwest and Delta flights depart. The shop's new location is inside the "B" Concourse, past the checkpoint. This allows customers to browse The Boutique while they wait for their flight to depart. It also provides the shop with four times the amount of space it once hEntrance closedad, and four times the inventory; including custom handbags,  jewelry, watches and popular "Hello Kitty" brand items.

But perhaps most interesting to the customer, is that any of The Boutique's wide array of designer perfumes and colognes can be taken on board in a carry-on bag. Previously, the Transportation Security Administration's rules concerning liquids, gels and aerosols prevented passengers from being able to take perfume through the checkpoint. But because the new store is located past the Security Checkpoint, packing colognes and fragrances is no longer a problem.

With Designs by Sue and the Northwest Duty Free Boutique, Reno-Tahoe International Airport passengers can find great deals and an expanded selection.
"The best way in and out of the Reno-Tahoe region is getting even better."
