Free WiFi and local/toll calls

Passengers can communicate for free without hook-ups or hang-ups at Reno-Tahoe International Airport.

Wifi

Reno Tahoe International offers customers free local calls and free WIFI service throughout the terminal sponsored by the Reno-Gazette Journal. This commitment to customer service helps passengers without a cell phone call for a ride or allows laptop carrying customers to stay connected to work, home and friends while waiting in the airport.

The free local phone service is located in Baggage Claim as well as in new Productivity Centers that are designed to help passengers stay connected through a variety of electronic devices. The Productivity Centers feature wall outlets for plugging in electronic devices and counter tops to use as work stations. They also include a TTY/TDD phone available for the hearing impaired and each location is ADA accessible.

For customer convenience, there are three Productivity Centers. One is located in the Main Lobby just outside of Brew Brothers, another is on Concourse C across from Ritazza near Gate C1 and one is on Concourse B in the Gate B2 area.

After being notified by AT&T that public pay phones would be removed, the Airport engaged in a contract with the Reno-Gazette Journal that funds the WIFI and phone service. The sponsorship allows passengers to use the WIFI service and to make local and toll calls for free.

The Airport is building a better way to travel
ABC Construction Wizard

ABC stands for Airport Baggage Check-in Project - a 22-month construction program that will result in a faster and more efficient travel experience in the ticket lobby.
ABC will blend the latest high-tech security screening with a new baggage check-in system. An entirely new ticket lobby will be built to connect all of the airport's airline ticket counters to the new system.

Construction Ahead
Customers will experience  construction related issues. It is recommended that people arrive a little earlier for their flights and pack their patience.

Why do the ABC Project?
Following 9/11, the airport lost 35 percent of its ticket lobby space to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA)  baggage screening machines and the staff who operate them. The machines congested the lobby and created a two-step check-in process. ABC will end the two-step check-in process and relieve overcrowding.
Airline counters will move to a temporary lobby

ABC Skycap Locations

New structures will be popping up at Reno-Tahoe International Airport during the ABC Project.

Starting in summer of 2008, the entire front curb of the terminal, from the skywalk to the south end of the ticket lobby, will be enclosed in a pop-up structure that will attach to the green awning.
  • This temporary facility will house a temporary ticketing lobby until the ABC project is complete.
  • All of the airlines operating at RTIA will function from inside this pop up structure in summer, 2008.
  • Additional crosswalks and openings in the median wall will be added to allow easy access to the entrances of the temporary lobby.
  • Skycap services will be moved out to the center median, along with Smarte Cartes for luggage handling.
  • The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will be moving its screening equipment and staff members to the south end of the terminal in another temporary pop-up structure.
  • The pop-up ticket lobby will be removed once the project is complete in late 2009.
ABC Travel Tips
  • Download boarding passes at home or use only carry-on luggage to help you avoid the construction area. But, be sure to remember the TSA 3-1-1 rules at www.tsa.gov.
  • Use sky cap service whenever possible.
  • Use the cell phone waiting lot when picking up passengers to avoid driving around the airport perimeter road.
  • Allow some extra travel time in case of construction related road delays and during inclement weather or holidays.
  • Watch for signage and airport Passenger Aides for direction.
  • If you have questions about the project, go to www.ConstructionTruths.com or Ask the Airport (asktheairport@renoairport.com).
