Focus of the Month: Lotus Mudra _____________________________________________________
The symbol of the lotus in the hand comes from the Goddess Lakshmi (the Goddess of Abundance) who holds in one of her many hands the lotus flower. In both Buddhism and Hinduism, as well as many areas of Eastern philosophy, the lotus is said to represent the power of transformation. In nature the lotus flower blooms from a muddy root living under water into a flower of beauty....(more on this months focus on the Website)
Keep the image of the lotus flower in your minds-eye as you practice yoga, meditate , or chant a mantra and bring it to mind when you find yourself thinking negatively or feeling stressed. The image of the lotus in your hand can serve as your visual mantra reminding you that you have the ability to invite abundance and bliss into your life.
