 Greetings!

Mantra MudraA BIG Thank you to everyone who attended the Global Mala! What a wonderfully successful day.  See Pictures Here. What a beautiful Yoga Community we have here in the Greater Lehigh Valley. Focus of the Month:
Nadi Shodhana
(Alternate Nostril Breath)
_____________________________________________________

Global Mala logo

If you don't do anything else, this is a simple yoga breathing exercise that can be done virtually anywhere, anyplace. You will be glad you did. It is simply dynamic!

The name alternate nostril breathing is due to the fact that we alternate between the two nostrils when we do the breathing. Yogis believe that this exercise will clean and rejuvenate your vital channels of energy, thus the name nadi sodhana (purification of nadis or channels).

With this exercise, we breathe through only one nostril at a time. The logic behind this exercise is that normal breathing does alternate from one nostril to the other at various times during the day. In a healthy person the breath will alternate between nostrils about every two hours. Because most of us are not in optimum health, this time period varies considerably between people and further reduces our vitality. According to the yogis, when the breath continues to flow in one nostril for more than two hours, as it does with most of us, it will have an adverse effect on our health. Building the Temple

[please email me (alicia@eastonyoga.com) to be added to our Teacher Training information email list. Full information packets are on the website and at the front deskof the studio now!]

poppies Just when I think I've learned so much in my 7 years of yoga, I am humbled & blessed to realize I'm still just beginning my journey.  After spening one week in May with Max Strom at a Teacher Training, I began to realize that yoga will and can change your life. Max's insight into the true practice of yoga as a connection into the whole body and not a contortion of the physical body is profound.

I am pleased to announce that we will begin to host Max for a series of Teacher Trainings in 2009.  Completion of all 4 segments is accredited with The Yoga Alliance 200RYT certification.

Max's Teacher Trainings are open to students with a regular yoga practice who want to deepen their understating of the holistic practice of Hatha Vinyasa Flow and pranayama.  Whether you wish to deepen you practice or continue through all 4 segments his training is of immense value. If you are already a teacher and wish to gain further insight into Max's yoga philosophy I guarantee you'll deepen your understanding of the practice! And since it is so close to home, no travel fees!

Max will be here in March 2009 for a series of workshops, details here.
