Looking forward to Summer fun!
_____________________________________________________

 Greetings!

Hooray it's May!
The trees are greening and the temperatures are warming up!  May starts our Focus of the month series...this month is Tree, read more about this pose below.

Greening our lives continues to be a gaol for so many of us who are striving to live a clean healthful life! Our Earth-Arbor Day Celebration raised $100 for the Easton Farmer's Market's Project Sunshine, a big hug to all of you who participated in classes and bought some of the lovely bake goods!

As we clean our outside world consider keeping yourself healthy and fruitful with yoga classes, hooping, Pilates, and with classes and special events. Spring and Summer are a great time to delve deeper into your practice to take advantage of the warmer days and with breath and intention deepen your yoga practice!  Think about how far you've come since the first time you stepped onto your yoga mat!

Also, you can always check the webschedular for all current classes and teacher substitutions. If you are like some of out other students and are looking for semi private yoga classes or additional class times/days email me at alicia@eastonyoga.com to make a suggestion of your own. You can also feel free to suggest a focus of the month or ask questions regarding your yoga classes, etc.

om shanti-

Tree Pose: Balance, Stability and Poise _____________________________________________________

Tree poseIn Erich Shiffman's, Yoga, the Spirit and practice of Moving Into Stillness, he discusses the benefits of tree pose(vrkhasana) as building balance, stability and poise. (page 107)

I am often struck by how many times I see in print the physical intention in the descriptions of yoga postures and how they parallel the emotional  & mental benefits.  The development of balance, poise, and stability are qualities we are all striving for on and off our yoga mats.  We can build on the teachings of this posture by embodying the pose physically and mentally.  When we are wavering and unsteady on our mat we can modify by placing our foot on the floor and off the mat by leaning on a friend or loved on to help us re-ground and grow our roots deeper.

The next time you come into this posture physically feel yourself ground deeply drawing on the support of the ground below and grow tall from that support and let the arms raise and feel joy of being uplifted!
