French study finds adverse effects routinely minimized in case studies
Clinical trials are essential in the progress of medicine, evaluating whether a new finding is a better way of treating patients or if it may be potentially dangerous.
"The reporting of harm is as important as the reporting of efficacy in publications of clinical trials," a group of French researchers wrote in a study recently published in the Archives of Internal Medicine. "However, harm is frequently insufficiently reported."
The research study of 133 case studies found that 11% made no mention of adverse effects, and another 4.5% mentioned there were adverse effects but provided no numerical data. Read more about the study here: http://bit.ly/29QqZT |
