Greetings!

Bright colors blanket the hills here in New England as summer yields to fall.   We love the seasons.  They remind us of the dance between continuity and change.  It's a great time to reflect on the values that ground us and the challenges that open us up.

During the spring and summer dear friends have been dealing with the threats of a severe cancer.  Their courage is an inspiration to us, and we think it will be to you as well.  Their situation prompted the article in this issue on everyday heroes.

The second article comes from a week we recently spent in Colorado.  We met with a diverse group of very accomplished people.  One has published a book on revolutionary agreements that transform individuals, teams and organizations.  Beginning this month we will highlight one of the agreements in each issue.

What is constant and what is changing in your life this season?

Yours in new beginnings,

Peggy and Bob MacArthur

Everyday Heroes [1]

Do you have heroes - people who make a difference in the way you live your life?  Do you stop to acknowledge them occasionally?  Do you ever view yourself as a hero to others?

We tend to think of heroes as famous people who have made a big impact in the world -Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Theresa, Nelson Mandela.  But, it is not fame that defines heroes.  It's their deeds.  In this regard, most heroes are everyday folks who do what needs to be done to make the best of difficult situations - their own or others'.

Keith and Kit are life-long friends from high school days.  They are heroes to us - he for the way he is battling cancer; she for the way she is supporting him while honoring her own needs.

[1] Both masculine and feminine.
