Well, first let me say that I do NOT mean to imply that Getting Organized is EASY! Believe me .. it is not easy for me (you should see my desk right now)! But I have had a major revelation about how integral it is to develop good organizational skills if you want to be healthy!
I am seeing more and more people who want to be healthy, and for the most part .. already know the basics of what they need to do! Their challenge seems to have more to do with finding time and making good health a priority. They know what they should be doing.
You know it too don't you? Let's see - eat right, exercise, do something to get rid of stress, have fun .. hmmm... sounds simple when we look at it that way doesn't it? Yet I keep meeting really intelligent, motivated people who just cannot get all or even some of those elements into their lives on a regular or long term basis.
In fact .. I too was one of those people... and not all that long ago either! I was counseling clients, getting busier and busier and suddenly I was drinking protein shakes for breakfast and eating Lara Bars for lunch. I heard myself answering my own disapproval with the famous "But .. I have no time to ________(cook.. shop ... eat... meditate ).
Then .. that voice inside my head that gives good advice to other people was finally heard. I realized I needed to get ORGANIZED! I needed to plan ahead for my long days - making meals the day before. I needed to be keenly aware of what nights the kids had events, what nights I was doing the evening routine solo because my hubby would be late. Suddenly .. the chaos started to clear ... and I could see that it was a lot EASIER than I thought it would be.
Don't get me wrong, living a healthly life does require some knowledge! But knowledge doesn't cook the quinoa!
