Greetings!
 Don't miss our "2nd Saturdays" Monthly Meeting and Vegan Potlucks at The Havens Center in Houston! The next one is coming up this Saturday, September 8, 2012 from 6:00-8:30 PM.
 Our friendly gatherings feature a delicious vegan potluck, along with a discussion and either a short film, food demo or speaker presentation. There's something new every month! We'll also highlight a different discussion topic, such as: animal rights, ethical vegan living, vegan health, food preparation, eco-friendly living and more.
 For September, the food theme is "Beans, the protein Kings". We encourage you to get creative using beans in your vegan potluck item! Our discussion topic this month is "Cruelty-free Living", with a short presentation on why animal testing must be abolished, how to find cruelty-free and vegan household products, and resources for being a compassionate consumer.
 In addition, VSOP volunteer and Arbonne consultant Deborah Strauss will speak about her company's 100% vegan products, which will be available for optional purchase. Deborah is generously donating 25% of her sales this Saturday to Vegan Society of P.E.A.C.E. as a fundraiser! We also have several door prizes to give away this month, including gift certificates and a copy of Simply Vegan, plus plenty of free literature, too!
 Please remember to bring a vegan entree, side dish or dessert to share at the potluck! Our events are always vegan, so only vegan or raw vegan foods (no animal-derived ingredients). If you have questions on ingredients, feel free to contact us. Help us also keep our events earth-friendly and our costs down by bringing your own reusable dinnerware, plates & cups.
 This is a great way to meet up with Vegan Society of P.E.A.C.E. each month! Attendees will also learn about our volunteer opportunities, upcoming events (including our annual "Texas Go Vegan Week") and ongoing outreach. For those interested, the fun continues after our monthly event with a vegan social mixer at an off-site location.
Please RSVP online to let us know you'll be there. All ages and newcomers are welcome at our "2nd Saturdays" vegan events! We hope you'll invite your friends as well! Doors open at 6:00 PM!
