Greetings!
You're invited to join us for our "2nd Saturdays" monthly vegan potlucks at The Havens Center in Houston! The next one is coming up this Saturday, February 11, 2012 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM.
Our friendly gatherings will feature a delicious vegan potluck, along with a discussion and either a short film, food demo or speaker presentation. Every month will be something new! We'll also highlight a different discussion topic, such as: animal rights, ethical vegan living, vegan health, cooking, world hunger solutions, eco-friendly living, nonviolence and more.
For February, our discussion topic is "Vegan for the Animals", with a short video and a review of the Silver Nautilus Award winning book The Missing Peace: The Hidden Power of Our Kinship with Animals. One lucky recipient will also go home with a softcover copy signed by author Judy Carman! The food theme this month is "Vegan Sweets and Foods We Love" -- just in time for Valentine's Day.
Please remember to bring a vegan entree, side dish or dessert to share at the potluck! Our events are always vegan, so please only vegan or raw vegan foods (no animal-derived ingredients). If you have questions on ingredients, feel free to contact us. Help us also keep our events earth-friendly and our costs down by bringing your own reusable dinnerware, plates & cups.
This is a great way to meet up with Vegan Society of PEACE each month! Attendees will also learn about our volunteer opportunities, upcoming events and outreach. All ages and newcomers are welcome at our "2nd Saturdays" vegan events!
