Forks Over Knives

Greetings!

One of the most important films of the year debuts this weekend. The much anticipated FORKS OVER KNIVES is now in theaters nationwide!

 Forksoverknives Campbell

According to the FORKS OVER KNIVES press release, the film "examines the profound claim that most, if not all, of the so-called "diseases of affluence" that afflict us can be controlled, or even reversed, by rejecting our present menu of animal-based The China Studyand processed foods. The major story line in the film traces the personal journeys of a pair of pioneering yet under-appreciated researchers, Dr. T. Colin Campbell and Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn."

In yesterday's Huffington Post essay, co-authored by Dr. Esselstyn and Dr. Campbell, they describe the film as focusing "not just on the research that both of us have been engaged in over the last four decades, whether in China and Cornell or at the Cleveland Clinic; it also traces the journey of several Americans as they move from a lifetime of eating mostly animal-based and processed foods to a whole food plant-based diet, and the extraordinary medical results that follow. It is educational, entertaining, and literally life-saving."

Ruth Heidrich triathleteFORKS OVER KNIVES also features prominent plant-based health experts Dr. John McDougall, Dr. Neal BarnardDr. Matthew Ledermen, Dr. Alona Pulde and Dr. Terry MasonEngine 2 dietSeveral vegan athletes also make appearances in the film, including Austin firefighter Rip Esselstyn, triathlete Ruth Heidrich and ultimate fighter/martial arts expert Mac Danzig. In addition, Farm Sanctuary president Gene Baur is interviewed about the important ethical reasons for vegan living.

The film is being released in theaters nationwide this weekend. It has already received a glowing review from film critic Roger Ebert. You can also see the exciting movie trailer in the sidebar to the left.
