| FEATURED VEGAN RECIPE |
| "Vegan Tofu Scramble"
Treat yourself to a delicious eggless breakfast that's quick and easy to make! Society of PEACE member Lisamarie Dean provides our featured vegan recipe this month for Vegan Tofu Scramble.
Lisamarie shares her story about helping rescue a young calf named Maybelle from the auction block last year. In addition to being a Society of PEACE volunteer and helping with our special events, Lisamarie is also an assistant organizer for the Houston Vegetarian Meetup.
She is also launching her own vegan baked goods catering company, called Kind Heart Cookies & Cakes. |

"We need, in a special way, to work twice as hard to help people understand that the animals are fellow creatures, that we must protect them and love them as we love ourselves...We know we cannot be kind to animals until we stop exploiting them - exploiting animals in the name of science, exploiting animals in the name of sport, exploiting animals in the name of fashion, and yes, exploiting animals in the name of food."

| E-PEACE NEWS |
April 2, 2010 |
Greetings!
Welcome to our latest issue of E-PEACE!
We want to thank everyone for supporting our events and outreach during the first quarter of 2010, including our "Vegan Bake Sale for Haiti Relief". We feel honored to have been part of this global humanitarian and animal relief effort. Food For Life Global Vegan Relief has recognized our efforts by featuring our event (and a few of our wonderful volunteers!) in the "Community Support" section on their website.
Spring is officially here, which means the Vegan Society of PEACE is celebrating our 6 year anniversary as a 100% volunteer-run organization! Although the weather prevented us from holding our Annual Meat-out Event & Anniversary Celebration this year, we have many more events and outreach coming up. You'll find these and other events listed on our newly upgraded Events Calendar, which now features RSS feed, a mobile version, Google maps, global campaigns and national conference listings.
We sincerely appreciate your support over the past six years, from our very humble beginnings in March 2004 (with just two co-founding members!) to a global membership of over 700 members in March 2010! It affirms that ethical vegan living, animal rights advocacy, environmental responsibility, peace and nonviolence are values we all share. This is the foundation of our grassroots organization, as we endeavor to enlighten the world about the interconnectedness of all living beings, the earth, compassion and nonviolence.
Thank you for doing your part to create a more peaceful world for all life on the planet! It only takes one person to change the lives of many!
Live your values. Be the change. Go VEGAN for life!
For a compassionate world,
Your Society of PEACE E-Newsletter Team

Action Alerts |
Take Action for Animals, People & the Earth
- Ask Tulane University to end the use of live pigs in trauma training (From Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine - PCRM.org) Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) courses teach procedures designed to treat acute trauma injuries. The American College of Surgeons, which oversees ATLS courses, has approved the use of medical simulators such as the TraumaMan System to teach these courses, yet Tulane continues to use live pigs. In these courses, numerous invasive procedures are practiced on anesthetized pigs. At the end of each course, the pigs are killed. Sign PCRM's online form asking the Tulane University Dean to end live animal testing .
