Greetings!
Like most of the world, we've wanted to do something to help the people and animals in Haiti so urgently in need. After some quick planning, we decided our first event of the New Year will be a fundraiser for humanitarian aid and animal rescue in Haiti. We hope you'll support our efforts this Sunday, January 24, 2010 from Noon - 4:00 PM, for the Vegan Bake Sale for Haiti Relief.
Our friends at Mango's Vegetarian Cafe have graciously offered their venue to us during Sunday brunch hours. We'll have live music from local bands, including: The Blue Notes, Rory Jagdeo, The Coalition Band and Barefoot The Indian. And we can't forget the delicious vegan baked goods donated by our friends at Sinfull Bakery, Radical Eats and of course our wonderful volunteers and members!
All proceeds from our bake sale will go equally to the following two organizations, run almost entirely by volunteers: Food For Life Global Vegan Food Relief, which is already on the ground to begin feeding vegan meals, and the Animal Relief Coalition for Haiti (ARCH), led in the US by Kinship Circle's Disaster Aid Network, in coalition with the WSPA & IFAW, who will rescue farmed, wild and companion animals.
Our Vegan Bake Sale for Haiti Relief is open to the public and all ages are welcome! For our members residing outside Houston and around the globe, you can still support our efforts by donating directly to the charities listed above. And remember, we still need plenty of baked goods! If you wish to donate homemade vegan baked goods, please email our coordinator or call the Society of PEACE line at 832-722-1376.
Join us on Sunday for a great cause!
