Greetings!
The Society of PEACE will be teaming up again with Houston's 'Food Not Bombs' to serve & share warm vegan meals with Houston's hungry this weekend! Society of PEACE volunteers will be meeting on Sunday, December 20, 2009 at 7:00 PM, near the steps in front of the Houston Public Library at Smith & McKinney Streets (near 500 McKinney in Downtown Houston).
Volunteers are needed to donate vegan food, help serve the meals and/or help clean up after. Food donations are of course optional, but they are greatly appreciated and will help those in need. The FNB meal sharing is held outdoors, so remember to dress appropriate for outdoor temperatures!
For this particular community service night, we are also holding a winter blanket drive. Please consider donating new or gently used blankets to give to those in need. One any given night, Houston's Food Not Bombs provides meals for 40-100 individuals. It would be wonderful to have enough blankets for everyone this Sunday!
If you want to help out with the Houston 'Food Not Bombs' program on a regular basis, they are always in need of volunteers. Veggie meals are served 4 days a week: M/W/F at 8 PM and Sundays at 7 PM all year long. If you live outside of Houston, or outside Texas, please check for a local FNB Chapter near you. There are chapters worldwide and the program has existed for several decades.
We hope you'll join us for our upcoming Community Service Night! This is a great opportunity for us to give back to our community and help end hunger!
If you have additional questions, please contact us via email, or call 832-722-1376. Hope to see you this Sunday!
For a compassionate world,
Your Society of PEACE Team |
