Greetings!
We are excited to present Professor Gary L. Francione as our esteemed guest speaker for our Society of PEACE "World Go Vegan Days" Dinner Event! Join us on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 6:00 PM for an informative lecture on animal rights and a delicious vegan potluck dinner at the JVB Meditation Center in Houston!
Professor Francione is a prominent philosopher of animal rights law and ethical theory at Rutgers University. He is known for his abolitionist theory of animal rights, and his promotion of veganism and nonviolence as the baseline principles of the abolitionist movement. Professor Francione is also the author of numerous books, including his most recent, Animals as Persons: Essays on the Abolition of Animal Exploitation. He frequently publishes essays on his website, Animal Rights: The Abolitionist Approach and has given a wide range of lectures & interviews throughout the country.
Our event will begin promptly at 6:00 PM with an introduction by Kristen Lee Ohanyan and Dr. Sulekh Jain, followed by Professor Gary L. Francione's featured presentation. A delicious vegan potluck dinner will follow, so please bring a dish to share. There will also be plenty of time to meet & mingle with our wonderful Society of PEACE members & guests.
