Dear Society of PEACE Members & Supporters:
Vegan & animal rights issues are certainly hot topics
on TV right now! At the end of May, TV Talk Show Host Oprah
Winfrey announced to millions of viewers that
she would be taking a "21 Day Vegan Cleanse". She
interviewed author Kathy Freston during the show and
the author's book,
Quantum Wellness sold out almost
immediately, thanks to Oprah's Book Club.
In the same week, TV Talk Show Host
Ellen DeGeneres interviewed Rory Freedman and
Kim
Barnouin, co-authors of the NY Times bestselling
book Skinny
Bitch.
This was another giant step forward in bringing vegan
& animal rights topics to millions of television viewers.
The television buzz continues this month when the
acclaimed weekly FX Network series "30 Days"
will air an episode entitled "Animal Rights". The
series is
produced by Morgan Spurlock (of "Supersize Me"
fame). Animal Acres
Farmed Animal Sanctuary is one
of the organizations to be featured in the episode,
which is scheduled to air nationwide on June 17.
(Check local listings for air times.)
With all the positive media attention surrounding
veganism, animal rights and the environment, it's a
great time to introduce non-vegetarians to the many
benefits of a plant-based diet. PCRM has a Vegetarian Starter Guide that can be
downloaded online for free and is great to share
with anyone who wants to learn about vegetarian living.
Remember, PEACE begins on your plate -- Go VEG!
